Chapter
1 Waiting until the PCs fell asleep Elly snuck into their room and took the scroll that they found at Christians. She made her way through the streets until she met a cloaked friend of hers. Taking a couple of turns in the streets and making sure they weren't tailed they snuck into a house that they thought was safe unknown to them Myr was standing in the shadows the whole time watching and following. Myr made sure they just didn't leave right away and then went back to the Green Dragon to get the others who were still sleeping. They made their way back to the house and with spider climb cast upon him Cade was able to walk up the walk to the closed shutters opening them with a sword. Walking along the ceiling he went through each room finding only a sleeping dwarf so he unlocked the front door letting the others in. My was able to detect a secret door that was hidden within the fireplace and open it. Cade snuck down the stairs seeing Elly and the cloaked man sitting at a small table looking over the Scroll. "I''m sorry, Clive, i'm not powerful enough to help you.", "don't worry", he replied,"you've helped me more than you can imagine. . . " he turned his head back towards the stairs surprising Cade who cast sleep. Elly then dropped to the floor, Asleep. The man kicked over the table and hid behind it with Elly giving Cade the perfect opportunity to get the scroll which Clive also dove for but didn't get. Clive then took Cade as a hostage so Enutrof wouldn't shoot arrows at him, but Cade was able to wiggle out. Clive then gave up because the PCs allowed Elly to leave. A lot of distrust was in that room as everyone tried to figure everything out. As Clive described it who asked Christian, who hired some merceneries, to retrieve the scroll from the soldiers that were transporting it and bring it back to him. But someone got to Christian first. The PCs still believed that the city guards were holding Christian prisoner in the jail and wanted to break him free, Clive told them that he knew governor Durham and if he could speak to Durham then Christian would surly be released. After some suggestions of how to break into the Govenors mansion Clive finally got the idea that they could pretend to be preformers that were suppose to preform in front of Durham, so a stolen guards armor, forged scroll and a couple of clown costumes later the PCs were at the door. Luckily Enutrof, dressed as a guard, was able to convince the real guards to let them in. They made their way to the second floor and almost to the governors office when they were stopped by Krass, the governors personal servent. Krass told the PCs that Durham wouldn't see anyone, since they were so persistant, Krass walked back into the office to ask again and came back soon telling them they had to leave. Enutrof quickly grabbed Krass as Cade ran between his legs to open the door. The govenors chair was facing outside and Clive came in and on his knees to explain everything but the govenor didn't answer. then a sound, almost like a ghost sound told them to leave, Cade walked around the desk to see that the govenors has been dead for a while. Krass elbowed Enutrof and ran out the door. He altered his form to look like Durham then called for his guards. A fight ensued with Myr blasting Krass with some Magic Missiles, Enutrof trying to tackle him, Clive trying to cut him, and Cade using his magic from a distance. Enutrof grabbed Krass and Clive knocked him out, he then returned to his original form. The guards came up and summoned Able who arressted Krass, after Enutrof searched him. Enutrof found something disturbing on Krass's body plates of metal that seemed to have been fused with his skin and purple puss coming out from it. The body of Christian was also found in a side room and the PCs found that Krass was keeping the bodies preserved with a Gentle Repose spell. Able thanked them for finding all of this out and gave them a bag of 500gp. Clive and the PCs split promising that they'll meet in a month at Croc's Crossing. Needing to know what was on that scroll they took it with them back to Harfein. With Pandora's help they found out that Krass was not along, nor the ringmaster. Krass, |
