"An unknown message; a mysterous friend"
page 4 - 'Pax Tharkas, stone skin and empty halls'
part 1 of 3
Arriving at a cliff summit about a week later the
party saw their first view of Pax Tharkas. A large city built of
dwarven stone with walls ten feet high and just as thick, black
plumes of smoke billow up from all of the blacksmiths. And as the
party was about to find out Pax Tharkas is also a weapon free zone.
They left their possestions at the gate and went toward Christians
General Store to talk to their contact. But, their contact wasn't
there and the shop was in ruins with broken windows and junk scattered
accross the floor. There was also a sign on the door indicating
that rogues were involved and anyone with information should contact
Able, leader of the guards. That is where the PCs went a large two
winded structure in the center of the city. When they met Able he
told them about 'The Returners' and Cade offered to help Pax Tharkas
with their problem. For that they were promised a reward, and some
specially marked swords to help them out.
After gathering some information Enutrof suggested that they check
the sewer system because that would be a great place to hide, no
one would want to be down there. After hours of searching and chasing
some distant voices, and since Myr was the only one who could see
in the dark, they left and got baths. Wanting to check out Christians
shop for any clues they asked Able if they were allowed to, he said
'NO' because it was still part of their investigations. So they
quickly rushed over before he sent guards to the place, unsuccessful
though. As Cade was trying to sneak into the back, Myr stood watch
out front and Enutrof went three blocks down to the 'Daulphin Tavern'
(a seedy place) to start a bar fight. With Enutrof's help they were
able to get two of the soldiers away but an Inspector (wierd guy)
came in the shop to start looking around just as Cade was about
to check the front. Bluffing the remaining soldier Myr was able
to get him to help his friends at the bar he then used ghost sound
to trick the Inspector to also leave the shop. That gave Cade enough
time to find a hidden compartment and pull out a small wooden box.
Back at the 'Green Dragon' (the inn the pcs are staying at) Cade
took his time to open the box which contained some sacks a strange
platinum coin and a simple scroll that is enchanted with magic (Abjuration
and a Transmutation spells). While trying to discover where the
Platinum coin was from (foreign city?) Enutrof saw a small etching
on the back side of a dalphin.
The same looking dalphin that hangs outside the 'Dalphin Tavern',
where he started a bar fight just a couple of days ago . . . .
