The Mage War
- back to prologue -

-How it Started
Queen Diana of the just emerging Augustine Empire ruled over Port Drake and several other small towns, the Elders were governing the southern capital Volkrad, the dwarves had their own capital of Pax Tharkas in between those two powers, and to the north a king will soon die and his two sons will fight over the thrown of Waterdeep. Most cities at this time were individually self governed.
Strange occurances started to happen accross the lands: the capital of Pax Tharkas was attacked by a giant green dragon that burst up from undernieth the city to attack the city, the two Cadeltrel brothers fought over the crown to Waterdeep, William Elders, ruler of the south, soon fell ill and then was murdered with a dopleganger taking place of one of his daughters and the other one being blamed for his death. Terror and uncertanty was abounding accross the land and soon after hundreds of various types of elementals sprang forth from the ground and advanced on the city, the city put out a plea for help. From the west came the Augustine Empire and to the east Pax Tharkas, while the elementals nearly destroyed the city, the elementals were finally defeated by the Augustine soldiers who were then left to keep the peace. A gigantic Red Dragon appeared around Ceartree causing trouble until it was found to be a fake that was controled by bandits. The Augustine Empire all this time had been moving slowly and silently into the streets and governments of most of the cities of the west including Port Drake, Miragon, Pax Tharkas, Wyvern Water, and even Waterdeep. A wizard in the shadows of Diana was behind most of the disasters that have been happening including the elementals, fake ded dragon, back door deals with Waterdeep and eventual takeover. After recieving a letter from a friend in Ceartree Darwin and his party quickly traveled there through forests and back ways. With as many soldiers that Ceartree could spare, because they were close to the front line, they gave to Darwin to command which he took through the southern forest into the Talocian mountains to attack Pax Tharkas from behind which was liberated. With no concrete front line Darwin's party decided to do a stealth mission directly towards Waterdeep, it was then that Darwin left his army at Harfein telling them that he would return and until that time they were to wait because there might not be many people who will survive.

- Final Move
With much of the ground destroyed through the new invention of Atmost powder (blackpowder) and bodies littering the ground The forces were able to charge through into the heart of the Empire at Waterdeep. That's when Logenous unleashed his ultimate weapon Ruby, a Gargantum Red Dragon enhanced through magic and metal and under his complete control. It devistated countless soldiers until there was a retreat back to a safe distance. Rohm, Darwin, Nicholas, Wes, and Charisma with the help of an inventor created an 'Airship' (basically a small boat with a hot air balloon heated with oil) to fly a secret mission into the walls to take out the dragon. With that surprise attack they were able to kill it then retreat back to a safe distance to left the soldiers do their work.

- The Ripple Effect.
Because the war was started by mages and perpetuated by magic it was deemed the Mage War. Much magic was lost or forgotten in the world, Leading towards a strong dislike and even hatred towards mages. Technology abounded afterwards and many of the old gods were forgotten or lost in prayers. The Augustine Empire was basically broken down and pieces given to smaller rullers. With Atmose Powder Rifles and Pistols as well as cannons were created. The idea of an Airship became widespread and became common for travel, war, and piracy.
